2011 GT350 Pace Car - What a Ride!

If you are fan of old or new Mustangs, one thing you will always remember is the classic 65 Shelby GT350, or the later, 1966 Shelby GT350. These first generation Mustangs truly set the bar for the Cobra.

Now, 45 years later, the new 2011 Shelby GT350 is pacing NASCAR, specifically the  Shelby American NASCAR Race in Las Vegas.

"When we unveiled the new 2011 Shelby GT350 last month, fans clamored for the car to pace this NASCAR race," said Amy Boylan, president of Shelby American. "Since so much of the GT350 was developed on the road course, drag strip, and oval of Las Vegas Motor Speedway, it was appropriate to show off the Shelby handling there during the race. It will be exciting to watch a Shelby GT350 lead a race for the first time since 1970."

The Mississippi legislature recently passed the Trooper Steve Hood Act: The Nitrous Prohibition Act. The law is named after a state trooper who died in a high speed chase while in pursuit of a nitrous equipped vehicle. This law does not ban the use of nitrous at race tracks or on race cars, but it does make it illegal to have a functioning nitrous system in your street car.

For only the fourth time in history, the Special Vehicle Team Owners Association is holding a national gathering designed for ALL Ford SVT owners to "experience." This summer, the SVTOA's "Experience IV" Nationals will be part of the annual "Mustang Week" event held in Myrtle Beach, S.C., from July 20-26, 2009.

Just like during the previous three SVTOA Nationals, "Experience IV" will feature a car show, a club dinner and a track event -- only this year, instead of a road course, our SVT's will finally be covering the pavement 1/4-mile at a time at nearby Darlington Dragway for an evening of dueling time slips! The SVTOA also has special prizes and guest appearances planned, in addition to all of the other attractions that make Mustang Week one of the biggest and best Ford-based automotive events in the country!
