Mustang Evolution took another step forward in 1994 with the redesigned look of the rear wheel drive, fox 4 platform. Ford's own internal code name for the new Mustang was SN-95, and you will see it referenced that way on most popular mustang forums today!

Another noticable change for the fifth generation Mustangs was the elimination of the notch back coupe style car, for the first time in the history of the car!

SVT Continues Building Winners

Ford continued producing Cobras in 94 and 95, including a special edition 1995 Cobra R Model Mustang. These would prove to be the last of the 5.0 series of V8's in the Mustang as it moved to an all new Modular 4.6 liter aluminum engines.

The Modular 4.6 engine produced 305 hp and 300 lb of torque right from the showroom, making the 96-98 Cobras fast enough to compete in the 13 second bracket at drag strips around the country! It was also during this time that Form introduced another special edition Mustang, the Mystic Cobra, which came with a very unique BASF paintjob that changed colors, depending on the angle in which you looked at the car!

The Cobra Gets an IRS

99cobracvtblktan (12)In 1999, the Cobra Mustang was once again updated with a Independant Rear Suspension, and a 320 Horsepower 4.6 engine! The engines were now being hand built and when you got your car, there was a special plate stamped onto the side of the head, with the name and signature of your engine building team!
