1979 Brought about the newest platform in Mustangs, the Fox Body cars! The third generation of Ford Mustangs was underway!

The 1979 Ford Mustang was built on the same platform as the Mercury Zephyr and Ford Fairmont. It featured a larger trunk area at the sacrifice of the back seating section, meaning it was smaller! In addition to the larger trunk, the engine compartment was much bigger, making it easier to service (and add mods!)

SVT - Ford Special Vehicle Team is Born

1993 brought us one another goodie from Ford, the SVT or Special Vehicle Team. SVT was formed for one reason... to build high performance cars, for people who truly wanted a high performance car, specifically, a Mustang!

1993 SVT Cobra R Model

Although there were a total of 5100 Cobras built in 1993, there was a small group of 107 labeled as the SSVT Cobra R Model. The R Model Mustangs were built with one focus... lets race it! The car was literally stripped down of everything that was not race-essential, in consideration of dropping the weight. That meant... no A/C, No Radio, not even heat, carpet or a rear seat! It was Fords first 2-seater car from the factory!

From there... the race was on to create the fastest factory mustang yet! The R Model cars, even though they looked just like regular Cobra's that year, were fitted with everything you would expect to find on a pure bred racer:

• Race Tuned Suspension
• High Performance Brakes
• Oil Cooler and Oversize Radiator

Available in only Vibrant Red, the 107 Cobra R models built in 1993 are one of the rarest, fastest, and most collectible Fox Body Mustangs of all time.
